Coming from the southwest corner of this site and from 40-year-old vines, the 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Le Grand Maupertui was all destemmed and aged in one-third new French oak. Rocking black cherry, violets, spring flowers, sandalwood, and incense notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, focused, structured wine that has fine tannins, considerable elegance, and a great finish. 95 points Jeb Dunnuck
