The Lujan de Cuyo subappellation of Mendoza, with its high elevation, semi-desert climate, and nutrient-poor soils, is considered by many to be one of the best places in the world to grow Malbec. This unfined and unfiltered wine spends 17 months in a combination of new and second-fill French and American Oak barrels. The nose has great presence of cassis and strawberry opening to notes of caramel, white pepper, star anise, dark chocolate and graphite, enlivened with delicate mint and rosemary notes. Remarkably broad in mouth, this elegant Malbec shows sweet, firm tannins and a very long finish with great persistence.
